About the Role

Due to continued growth, we have a vacancy for a casual yard hand to join our PM shift in our Arndell Park depot (1pm start). You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operations of our yard facilities. This position is crucial for maintaining efficiency and safety standards within our operations. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work autonomously and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Strapping and securing loads onto vehicles or pallets according to company protocols and safety standards.
• Safely manoeuvring freight within the yard using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Scanning and tracking freight accurately using electronic devices or paperwork systems.
• Assisting in the organization and categorization of freight within the yard for efficient retrieval and dispatch.
• Conducting regular cleaning and tidying of the yard area to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
• Proper disposal of waste materials and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
• Performing minor maintenance tasks such as cleaning gardens, minor repairs to equipment, basic maintenance of yard equipment, and addressing any visible damages or hazards.
• Reporting any maintenance issues or safety concerns to appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Adherence to adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding safety, including fatigue management and compliance with safety regulations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing freight transportation and logistics operations by ensuring the outcome of all tasks undertaken fits within the chain of responsibility requirements.
• Perform any and all other duties as assigned by management.

Key qualifications and Experience

• Previous experience in a fast-paced transport environment.
• Available to work occasional weekends.
• Previous trailer strapping experience is highly regarded.
• Current Forklift licence is preferred.
• Current motor vehicle licence.
